Tend Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 20, 2026
Tend is a home-management app made by Empty Bar (the company behind Tend). This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights. Questions any time at [email protected].
Who we are
Tend is built and operated by Empty Bar, an independent company. We're a small team, and we built Tend because we wanted a home OS that helps homeowners become more capable — not just more organized.
What we collect
We only collect information you choose to give us, plus what's strictly needed to run the app.
- Account info. Your email and password (passwords are hashed — we never see them), or — if you sign in with Apple or Google — the email address your provider shares with us. Optionally your first name.
- Home profile. Address, year built, type, square footage, bedrooms, bathrooms — only what you enter. We geocode the address to latitude/longitude once so we can fetch a local weather forecast for you.
- Your home log. Projects, appliances, vendors, reminders, milestones, documents — everything you save in Tend.
- Photos and files. Appliance photos, chat photo attachments, inspection PDFs, invoice PDFs, and any other documents you upload.
- Chat messages. Questions you ask Tend's AI and the responses returned, including any photo attachments.
- Subscription state. Whether you have an active Tend Pro subscription, and the platform you purchased it on. We don't see your payment card or billing address.
- Basic diagnostics. App version, error reports, and — if you turn notifications on — the device push token used to deliver them. No cross-app tracking. No advertising IDs.
- Anonymous usage analytics. Which features get used (e.g. "a chat message was sent," "a reminder was completed") tied to a random user ID — never the content of your messages, your address, your email, or anything you've saved. You can turn this off any time in You → Privacy, and Tend respects the choice on-device: nothing is sent while it's off.
We do not collect: precise device location, your contacts, your activity outside Tend, or data from device sensors.
How we use it
- To run the app and store what you save.
- To personalize Tend's AI responses to your specific home, history, and local weather.
- To send reminders and helpful heads-ups — like a freeze warning before it reaches your pipes, or a nudge when care is due. You control every category in You → Notifications, quiet hours are respected, and Tend sends at most a couple of proactive notes a week.
